Our CNC service

We mill and turn your parts in metals and plastics, in 3 and 5 axes, and finish them in the same order: anodizing, bead blasting, laser marking. You send the STEP model and the 2D drawing and get a price per part in 24–48 hours, from one unit to a production run.

Milling & turning

We cut from solid, in as few setups as the part allows.

Most prismatic parts never need more than three axes. When a part has features on several sides, five cut them in one go.

A set of CNC-machined plastic parts: a gear, a nut, blocks and bushings

5-axis milling

Multi-sided geometry cut in a single setup — fewer fixturing errors and tighter true-position tolerances than separate 3-axis operations.

3-axis milling

The low-cost default for brackets, plates and enclosures.

Turning & live tooling

Round parts complete, flats and cross-holes in one setup.

Technical advice

Any question, an engineer advises you.

We check the material, tolerances and finish on your drawing before giving you a price.

Rotate the demo part yourself, or pick a constraint below — these are the same checks we run on every CNC file before it's quoted.

What we check

Sharp internal corners, deep pockets and undercuts move a CNC price more than anything else. Rotate the part, or pick a feature, and see why.

Measured against the CAD

Critical dimensions checked with 3D metrology, on request.

What to send

What you send, and what you get back.

The 3D model and the PDF drawing are enough.

Your 3D model (STEP) and the 2D PDF drawing

The model gives the geometry; the drawing carries what the model cannot say: threads, tolerances, surface finish. Material, quantity and finish are chosen when you upload the part.

Questions

Questions about CNC machining

How much does CNC machining cost?

It depends on four things: the material, the machine time, the number of setups the part needs and the quantity. Setup is paid once per order, so the unit price drops as the quantity grows. Deep pockets, sharp internal corners and tight tolerances on many features push it up. Upload the file and you get the price of every part, with its lead time, in 24–48 hours; the feasibility check on this page gives you a rough idea first.

What tolerances can OperGo hold on a CNC part?

±0.1 mm is our standard tolerance and covers most features without adding cost. If a dimension needs to be tighter, mark it on the 2D drawing: we hold it and price only those features, not the whole part.

What’s the minimum order quantity for CNC machining?

One. We quote and machine single prototypes on the same lines and under the same QC as a production run, so a part validated at quantity one doesn’t need to be re-proven when you scale up.

Do you offer 5-axis machining?

Yes — 3-axis milling, 5-axis milling and CNC turning with live tooling, so a part with features on more than one side doesn’t need multiple setups and the fixturing errors that come with them.

Which file formats do you accept for a CNC quote?

A STEP file for the geometry, plus a 2D PDF drawing for anything the model alone can’t say — GD&T callouts, threads, the dimensions that actually matter. Every CAD package exports STEP; that pair is what we price from.

How fast can you turn around a CNC quote?

Most quotes come back within 24–48 hours, with the unit price and the lead time for every part.

An instant-quote platform rejected my part as unmachinable. Can you make it?

Often, yes — send it. Instant-quote tools reject geometry they can’t read: deep pockets, thin walls, undercuts, tight true-position callouts. We review those parts one by one: within 24–48 hours you get a quote or, if the part can’t be made as drawn, the design change it needs.

What materials and finishes can you machine?

Aluminum, stainless and mild steel, and engineering plastics like ABS and PEEK as standard, finished with anodizing, powder coating, painting or polishing under the same quote — no separate vendor or lead time to coordinate.

What surface finish do CNC parts come with?

As standard, parts ship as-machined — a clean, functional tool finish with faint tooling marks. For a smoother or near-cosmetic surface we specify smooth- or fine-machining, and any coating (anodizing, bead blasting, powder coat, polish) goes on top of that, all under the same quote. Tell us the surface the part actually needs and it's planned into the program, not chased afterward.

What if CNC isn't the right process for my part?

Then it changes — before anything is made. If your geometry, target price or volume line up better with injection molding, sheet metal or another process, we flag it and requote under the right one. Asking for a quote commits you to nothing.
